10 Years & Tangible Reminders
10 years!!! On one hand I can’t believe it has already been 10 years … and on the other I can’t remember life before it began.
The Noticed Network is 10 years old this month and it’s got me all kinds of nostalgic.
In the early months of 2011 I started to play around with the idea that Noticing with a capital N could really make a positive impact. It was so fun to dream about and bring the vision of Noticing to life!!!
By June of 2011 I was ready to Notice the AMAZING people in my life, and as soon as I did I knew it was magical!!!
As I began to Notice people I also began to collect their "Noticed Story". Every story was so inspirational!
And so many of these AMAZING people who I Noticed wanted to Notice the AMAZING people in their lives!
Just FYI - The Noticed Network is full of AMAZING!!!
The ripples and the blessings that come from all of this Noticing are positively immeasurable.
Without question the people are the very best part of this work! As I reflect back on the past 10 years, my head and my heart are filled with the faces, smiles, kind words, and general goodness of thousands of people.
So if you are one of those AMAZING people “THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU!!!”
I remember in the very beginning trying to figure out what I could do to make the moment when someone gets Noticed really "stick".
Even in 2011 I was enough of a human behavior geek to know that without an anchor, Noticing barely had a chance of sticking in the short term memory for most people, and it had almost no chance of making a long term, life changing impact.
Finding ways to help people experience Noticing and being Noticed in ways that had a real positive impact became my work. I knew I needed to create an anchor so that they could be reminded of the goodness of Noticing and being Noticed over and over again.
As you may have heard me say before, The Noticed Network became my fifth kid (as I already had 4 beautiful daughters). The passion and purpose fueled me at times when I had no idea what to do, or when I felt like I couldn't figure out how to make it work, I can definitely see some parallels to parenting LOL. So much JOY, and so much to figure out!
I love this sweet picture of my girls and I so much! It was taken on the morning of my birthday that year. 10 years ago - look at those babies! -- and their sweet mama who had no idea of the awesomeness yet to come!
Changing the common term notice to a proper term Notice just seemed right to me.
Defining Notice as - “the intentional act of communicating to someone: I see you. I hear you. You matter.” just made sense.
Creating tangible reminders like the first Noticed keychain just made it all work!
My education told be that the anchor was functional.
My gut told me that the anchor was necessary.
And my heart told me that having something to give people when they are Noticed made it so much more fun!
Having a tangible reminder was and still is such a good call!!
It really doesn't matter what the tangible reminder is,
Now don't get me wrong we have been very intentional about our tangible reminders over the years. If you have been on this journey with us for the past decade you know there was a time when we just had the Classic Keychain (which skews a bit feminine as we were originally just Noticing women). Then we grew in our understanding and added Cable Keychains, Bracelets, Cards, and Lapel Pins (remember those???). And most recently we added Lock Screens, Digital Downloads, & Morse Code Bracelets.
Having a tangible reminder is the important part and we just want to make it fun and easy!!!
We learn as we grow, and we take what we learn to create new and fun products. I think we'll always be paying attention and trying help people anchor in the goodness that is Noticed.
Although I have been known to say from time to time that I don't want to be in the "keychain business", I do want to be in the "helping people Notice the goodness in themselves and others business". So I will continue to be the Chief Vision Officer for The Noticed Network, and I will continue to work with my AMAZING team to collect Noticed Stories and offer Noticed Products that service our mission.
There is so much goodness to Notice and when people know they are Noticed the world truly is a better place!!!
Here's to 10 AMAZING years!!! Here's to over 30,000 Noticed Products being out into the world because that means more than 30,000 people have been given the opportunity to know that they are seen, that they are heard, and that they matter!!! And here's all of the Noticing that is yet to come!!!
